The Varley Art Gallery of Markham
The Varley Art Gallery of Markham presents exhibitions of historical and contemporary Canadian art, and offers educational programs for all age groups. Through research, exhibitions, community events and publications, the gallery explores the art of F.H. Varley – a founding member of the Group of Seven – his peers, and the artists who have shaped Canadian artistic practice. The Gallery has an extensive Education Program providing enriching elementary, high school and adult educational experiences.
Their elementary educational programs are inspired by the Varley Art Gallery’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. They are designed to complement the Ontario Curriculum, and encourage creativity and critical thinking in students of all ages. The Varley Art Gallery introduces the history of Canadian art in a fun and informative way with the help of highly trained docents and artists. All program tours are offered in English and French.
The Gallery also has an extensive Education Program providing enriching adult educational experiences in French and English.
