Andrew Chandler
Andrew Chandler is an actor, director, improviser, playwright, dancer, composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Halifax. He has performed on stages across Nova Scotia, and across Canada. He has taught and mentored classes of all ages, and aims to foster a sense of play and discovery through his work. As an actor he has performed with Ship’s Company Theater (Habit of Murder), Two Planks and a Passion Theater (The Miracle Man, Dustbowl Joan), Up The Hill Theater (30/60, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind – 2014 Merritt winner: Outstanding Emerging Production), Festival Antigonish Summer Theater (Funny Money, The Three Munschketeers, Peter Pan), Shakespeare by the Sea (Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night, Treasure Island), TheatreSpeak ([title of show]), Neptune Theater (Mesa), and DaPoPo Theatre (So… What About Love?, The Halifax Hearings, Four Actors in Search of a Nation). As a playwright and composer, he has co-written Going Down with Ann Doyle, the musical So… What About Love? with Garry Williams and Amy Reitsma, and 30/60with Up the Hill Theater, as well as a number of collective creations with DaPoPo Theater. He is a regular performer with Make ‘Em Ups Improv Company, and has taught several workshops in improvisation. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Music in Percussion from Mount Allison University, and a Diploma in Musical Theater – Performance from Sheridan Institute. Andrews theatrical interests include Shakespeare, Improvisation, music and Musical Theatre, and writing. He loves pizza.
He can teach General Theater, Musical Theater and Improvisation in English and in French in the region of Halifax.
