Canadian Museum of Nature

The Canadian Museum of Nature is Canada’s national natural sciences and natural history museum in Ottawa. Knowing more about nature gives us the tools to make better decisions about resources. It provides the basis for new technologies and developments, and promotes a better understanding of how we affect, and are affected by, the natural world. The Canadian Museum of Nature is home to one of the world’s largest and finest natural history collections. Comprised of 24 major science collections of more than 10 million specimens, the museum’s holdings cover four billion years of Earth history.

Camps

Treat your child to a world of discovery and fun in a cool castle filled with dinosaurs, fossils, mammals and live creatures. Nature Camps offer children aged 6 to 14 unique activities and experiences during the summer. Themes include: the arctic, Bioluminescence, Canada's creatures, dinosaurs and fossils. Each action-packed week includes: access to Creatures of Light blockbuster exhibition, a 3D movie, interactions with live animals, an opportunity to trade personally-collected natural specimens at the Trading Post, exclusive gallery tours, and daily outdoor activities.

Field Trips

Spend a few hours at the museum with your students or an entire day! School programs are curriculum-based and tailored to grade level. Teachers can choose from a wide variety of workshop themes. School tours and workshops are suitable for elementary and high school students.

Programs and activities are included with your admission. Crafts, activities, lecture presentations/ programs and games are available and especially suitable for kids younger than 13. All of the exhibitions feature interactive activities that are a fun way to learn. There are also special play areas where children can transform into a scientist or an explorer.
