L’AFRY

L’ AFRY is a non-profit organization serving the York area of Ontario. It is their goal to encourage the consolidation and development of the Francophone and Francophile community and to promote French language with quality services, events  and activities in the York region including the Aurora and Richmond Hill area.

Services:

Camps:

A summer camp program for children age 6 to 11 years old is offered at various locations in the York region. Each camp program includes outings, field trips and different themed activities such as cooking, circus activities, rock climbing and more. To be eligible, campers must be enrolled in a French or a French immersion school and be an active member of L’AFRY. Every child at camp must be able to communicate in French. Events:

L’AFRY proudly hosts festivals such as foire Francophonie, musical shows, and many more community events throughout the year within the region.

Francophone Newcomer Welcome and Settlement Centre:
Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, AFRY offers settlement services including :
- Welcome Program for newcomers in schools
- Needs assessment for referral to government and community resources
- Information and orientation to discover various topics related to settlement, such as housing, education, transportation, employment issues, financial literacy, cross-cultural skills
- Community connections to assist newcomers in building social ties and expanding their social network through activities.
