Simon Fraser University | Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (OFFA)

The Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (also known as OFFA) is an administrative entity of Simon Fraser University whose mission is to coordinate, promote and provide support to the development of programs and courses offered in French at Simon Fraser University (SFU).

OFFA also organize cultural and scientific activities within the French-speaking community to promote a plural and inclusive Francophonie.

Whether you are a Francophone or a Francophile, if you have an interest in the French language and Francophone cultures, we welcome you to OFFA and SFU!

A few quick facts about OFFA:

  • We are a team of 10 employees whose main working language is French.
  • OFFA was founded in 2004, thanks to the mobilization of many community, university and government stakeholders dedicated to promoting French as one of Canada’s official language.
  • Since our inception, we have contributed to the post-secondary education in French in a minority setting of nearly 4,500 students, including more than 250 active students.
  • Every year, we organize free activities that allow more than 2,000 people to share cultural or academic experiences in French.
  • We are fortunate to be collaborating with 60 community and university partners at the provincial, national and international levels.
