A graduate of the University of Ottawa in French Literature and Education specializing in French second language, Michèle Vinet has long worked in the field of education. During her career she has provided many professional training courses across Canada. She continues her involvement with teaching the Council of Ministers of Education (Canada) and Heritage Canada, in the Odyssey program of Official-language monitors. Before venturing on the trails of novel writing, Michèle Vinet also made a career as an actress in theater, film, television and the Internet. Michèle participated in creative writing project in prison in Joliette penitentiary and mental health among Eager to Montreal.
Michèle Vinet just won the Prix Émile Ollivier-2012 for her novel Thursday, November. This literary prize has been awarded since 2004 by the French language of the Supreme Council (CSLF), a francophone outside Quebec Canadian author whose work is published by a publisher member of the Coalition of French Canadian publishers.
