The Colony of Avalon

Established in 1621 by Sir George Calvert (the First Lord Baltimore), the Colony of Avalon is widely recognized as the best-preserved early English colonial site in North America.

The colony is located in the community of Ferryland, approximately 1 hour 15-minute drive south of St. John’s. It is an educational tourist attraction that will allow you to go back in time!

Organize a tour in French by booking in advance and enjoy the Colony with your class or with your family. The guided tour includes a visit to the conservation lab, archaeological site, 17th-century kitchen, the gardens, and you can also visit the gift shop!
